This is a healthy vegetarian appetizer that's high in protein and low in fat...
YOU WILL NEED:
1 Cake Tofu - Cut into large bite size pieces
Cilantro - 1/2 Bunch Finely Chopped
Tandoori Paste or Powder - To Taste
Cumin Powder - 1/2 Teaspoon
Ginger - Finely Chopped 1 teaspoon
Garlic - Finely Chopped 1 teaspoon
Low Fat Yogurt - 4 Tablespoons
Red Chilli Powder - To Taste - Optional
Lemon Juice - To Taste
Green Chutney or Salsa - Optional
Canola Oil - 1-2 Tbsp
Black Pepper - To Taste
Salt - To Taste (use very little since tandoori paste may already contain salt)
METHOD:
1. Rinse, drain and cut tofu into bite sized cubes.
2. Marinate tofu in lemon juice, ginger, garlic, black pepper, yogurt, cumin powder, tandoori powder and a little salt.
3. Add a little canola oil to pan.
4. Grill or saute lightly in pan making sure not to break the tofu (about 2-4 minutes on each side). You may even cover the saute pan so the tofu cooks faster and is softer. Make sure you do not overcook the tofu or it will dry out. The tofu should taste moist and succulent.
5. Sprinkle some chopped cilantro on top and serve the tandoori tofu hot with chutneys or salsa. Simple!
