These Vegan Cutlet Hors d'oeuvres take minutes to make and are a great low-fat, high-protein snack so you don't get hungry so quickly. They taste great as a snack or can be served with cocktails/drinks...
YOU WILL NEED
7-8 Flakes Fresh Garlic - Flakes Finely Chopped
1/2" Fresh Ginger - Finely Chopped
1/2 Cup Fresh Basil or Cilantro Leaves - Chopped
1/2 Fresh Red Bell Pepper - Chopped
1 Cake Tofu - Completely Drained *
2 Tbsp Curry Powder (Or Curry Paste)
1/4 Teaspoon Red Chilli Powder (Optional)
Salt - To Taste
1 Cup Breadcrumbs
1-2 Tbsp Olive Oil
METHOD:
1. Shortcut: Instead of chopping everything separately, throw all ingredients (except breadcrumbs) into a food processor and chop finely. MAKE SURE THE TOFU IS DRAINED, or the mixture will be too wet to form into cocktail tikki cutlets. After everything is chopped and mixed, if you still feel the mixture is too soft, add half of the breadcrumbs to firm it up a little.
2. Form this mixture into small hors d'oeuvres size round cutlets.
3. Dip both sides lightly in remaining breadcrumbs.
4. Gently saute both sides in olive oil until they become a beautiful warm golden brown and are slightly crispy on the outside.
5. Serve with ketchup, salsa or green chutney. It's that simple!
* TIPS: Tofu usually contains excess water. The Tofu MUST be pressed or left aside to drain in a colander or your mixture will not be dry enough to form into cocktail tikkis. Mixture should be soft, but should not be so "wet" that it cannot be formed into tikkis.

Very interesting vegan recipe. I've never tried this with tofu but I will give it a try :)
I sure impressed my friends with this recipe! And the funny thing is - it was so easy. Thank you for sharing this recipe.
Going to make these tofu tikkis tomorrow. Please post more recipes!
Couldn't decide what vegetarian appetizer to make until I saw this recipe. Great idea!!
This recipe was yummy, and I don't usually like tofu so much. The curry flavor is a good idea.
